EXO’s Lay To Appear Alongside Jackie Chan In Upcoming Indian-Chinese Film ‘Kung Fu Yoga’

EXO Lay

K-pop, meet Jackie Chan.

Lay (Zhang Yixing), a Chinese member of the K-pop group EXO, will appear in “Kung Fu Yoga,” starring film star Jackie Chan and Indian actor Jackie Shroff. “Kung Fu Yoga” is an Indian-Chinese production that will star multiple Chinese and Indian actors in a variety of roles.

Lay reportedly will film in both China and India throughout the rest of the year.

“Kung Fu Yoga” will be released in 2016, and is directed by Stanley Tong. The film is part of a three-film agreement that was signed by Indian and Chinese leadership during the visit of China’s President Xi Jinping to India last year, reports the International Business Times.

Chan stars in the film, which will be based around the relationship between ancient kung fu and yoga practices. According to the Internet Music Database (IMDB), the film is an action comedy.

Indian actress Katrina Kaif is also in consideration for a role in the multinational film. As of June, Kaif was still making a decision.

It is unknown what part Lay will play in the film, or how big of a role in the film the Korean idol will take on.

Lay is the second SM Entertainment K-pop idol to work with Chan; this year’s “Dragon Blade,” starring the Hong Kong action star and John Cusack, featured Super Junior’s Choi Siwon.

Lay debuted as a member of EXO in 2011. The group is currently preparing to make a debut into the Japanese music market.

M.I.B’s Kangnam Is Sweet Like ‘Chocolate’ In New Solo Release

M.I.B’s Kangnam has finally returned to music with his solo release “Chocolate!”

“Chocolate” was released on September 9 through CJ E&M’s Official YouTube.

The song embraces a funky, medium-tempo as Kangnam sings about how sweet it is to fall in love. Like a bite of chocolate, the song is sweetly addicting with its easy listening vibe.

AOA’s Mina and actor Nam Joo Hyuk bring the song to live through the music video as they innocently pursue the early stages of their relationship. The inclusion of Nam Joo Hyuk is especially exciting as he is Kangnam’s personal friend and fellow cast member from JTBC’s popular variety show Off To School.

In addition to Kangnam’s endearing vocals, rapper San E lends his voice for a suave rap break towards the end of the song.

According to Soompi, Kangnam will begin his promotions for “Chocolate” with the September 12 airing of Music Show. This will mark his first time on stage as a solo artist.

Kangnam is the main vocalist and oldest member of hip-hop group M.I.B. He has increased his popularity appearing as guests on a variety of Korean television programs. In the last year, especially, he has become a regular cast member of many popular variety shows like Off to School, Invisible Man, and Animals. Still, despite his great work on the television screen it’s great to see him back to his singing roots.

Under the Dome to end this season

CBS is putting the residents of Chester’s Mill out of their misery.

The network has decided to end its summer thriller Under the Dome next month— which is still two years after the show was originally expected to conclude.

CBS has officially decided to not order a fourth season of the series, which is based on the Stephen King bestseller about a Maine town suddenly trapped under a mysterious force field.

Instead, the Sept. 10 finale will serve as a series ender.

under-the-dome

“Two years ago, Under the Dome broke new ground in the summer and became an instant hit on CBS, as well as with viewers around the world,” said Nina Tassler, chairman, CBS Entertainment. “Dome’s event storytelling and multi-platform business model paved the way for more original summer programming with the successful rollouts of Extant and Zoo. We’re excited to present the final chapter in Chester’s Mill as the story comes full circle, with the Dome coming down as dramatically as it went up.”

Previously Tassler had teased that the dome was going to come down at the end of the season. The network also revealed the closer will chronicle “two groups of residents engage in one final conflict that some won’t survive” and that the dome’s “mysterious origins will be revealed.” We’re told there are no plans to shop Dome around to other potential networks or streaming companies.

The verdicts are not yet in on the other two CBS summer shows Tassler mentioned — the sophomore drama Extant and freshman drama Zoo. Just looking at the ratings, one would have expected Dome to outlive Extant. But given Tassler’s quote above, and the decision to cap off Dome, the odds for the two remaining shows just went up (especially for Zoo).

Dome was originally conceived as a limited series, then producers had to figure out how to keep the story going when CBS decided to order another round. So for producers to have kept Dome alive for three years is indeed an accomplishment.
