F.T. Island has wrapped up two successful Christmas concerts at the Yokohama Arena on December 23rd and 24th.

The concerts, titled ‘X’mas Live 2011 ~Winter’s Night~‘, sold out the minute tickets went up for sale, drawing headlines and praise from both the Japanese and Korean media.

F.T. Island began the concert with the slow ballad, “So Today“, before moving on to perform a series of hit songs like “Let It Go“, “Haruka“, and “I Hope“. Each member held his own solo stage as well.Hongki, Jae Jin and Jung Hoon each put on guitar performances while Min Hwan showed off his drumming skills. As for Seung Hyun, he made the ladies swoon with his impressive piano playing.

At the end of the concert, the members said, “We have a total of 130 songs, both Japanese and Korean. One day, we want to be able to sing them all during a concert. We thank you all for coming to this concert. We will always work hard to put on great performances.”

F.T. Island will be making a comeback in Korea in the beginning of 2012.

F.T. Island Successfully Concluded Their First Korean Concert

ftisland_concert

On August 20th, for the first time in nearly a year, F.T. Island successfully concluded their first Korean concert ‘Play F.T. Island 2011 in Seoul‘ at the AX-Korea hall.

The concert brought in fans from not only Korea, but all over the world. Fans from Japan, China, Thailand, and even Europe and North America had flown in to catch the boys perform a slew of their hit tracks live.

F.T. Island kicked off with “Hello Hello” and went on to perform songs like “I’ll Have You“, “Until You Come“, “Bad Woman“, “Love, Love, Love“, and “Love Ache“. Fans were also in for a treat, as they performed their Japanese hit tracks, “Haruka“, “Let It Go“, and “Flower Rock“, in addition.

After the concert, the boys said, “It was our first concert in nearly a year in Korea so we prepared a lot of things. Our hearts swelled at seeing such a full audience; an empty space really couldn’t be seen. It was an exciting, fun concert, so much so that we don’t even remember how it started and how it ended.”

Is FT Island Really Caught In Plagiarism Crisis?

“We are not just pretty faces. We’ll compete musically” This was the declaration made by the group of main voal Lee Hongki, Lee Jaejin (bass), On Wonbin (guitar.vocal), Choi Minhwan (drum), Choi Jonghun (guitar.piano).

Their debut title song ‘Love Sick’ is extremely popular and has won first place for SBS TV ‘Inkigayo’ only after a month. It is written and composed by Vibe’s Rhu Jaehyun.

The problem is that this song is believed to resemble the song ‘Resolver’ featured in Japanese drama ‘Sorakara’ (Million stars falling from the sky). Starring top star Kimura Takuya, ‘Sorakara’ has been named 2002’s best Japanese drama. It was popular in Korea and its title song is also familiar.

If you listen to two songs, their melodies are extremely similar. Piano stringing is almost exact! It might be reasonable to say that only the words have been re-written over it. There is a netizen who uploaded the combined (one after the other) version of two songs. They flow smootly like one. There’s no awkward parts.

Even the lyrics seem partly recycled. ‘Love Sick’s ‘XDid you have to leave me so far away?’ was also used in Vibe’s song in 2003 ‘If the time is given in a day.’

Netizens are outrated. There are movements that propose “We have to send the song to Japan and get answers.”

The recording company, however, is standing strong. The law regarding plagiarism isnt clear and if the original song writer does not address the concern then theres no problem.

F&C Music’s section chief Kim JaeMyun said “I heard the title song for the Japanese drama. Contact the composer. I dont want to tell you his contact number, so you figure it out on your own. Team leader Kim Jinmin expressed a nuance of admittance: ” I agree with what the reporter thinks.”
